The Virginia Peninsula & Hampton Roads Chapters invite you to our Joint April Luncheon at the James River Country Club on Saturday 13 April.
Connect with alumni from "the other side of the river" to hear the latest on the status of submarine warfare in the U.S. Navy today.
Our guest speaker Bill Riffer '68 will be discussing how and why submarines have become integral to world-wide naval strategy.
Bill commanded the attack submarine USS BOSTON (SSN 703) and the sub tender USS SIMON LAKE (AS 33); and his shore assignments included Director of Officer Training at the Submarine School, and Chief of Staff for Doctrine, Tactics and Training for the Atlantic Submarine Force. In 1988 he was presented the VADM James Stockdale Award for Inspirational Leadership.
After retirement he transitioned to the civilian nuclear power industry and now teaches Military History for the Christopher Wren Association.
Dress code is casual; polo shirts are fine, but no jeans.
Registration is required by 9 April, payment by credit card only.
