We're bringing back our Networking Breakfast as a virtual meeting. Please join us for some conversation with your fellow academy grads.
All USNA alumni, alumni from other service academies, and their guests are welcome to our Joint Service Academy Networking Breakfast.
Our speaker this month
Michael Schwarting is the director of the USO of Hampton Roads and Central Virginia Outdoor Adventure Team.
USOHRCV’s Outdoor Adventure Team (OAT) is a peer-led health and wellness program designed for service members and their families to connect over physical challenges to encourage sustainable healthy living. OAT activities focus on four core pillar; wellness, sleep, nutrition, and resiliency, and have the adaptability and scalability to include wounded, ill, or injured service members as a supplement to their ongoing physical rehabilitation efforts. Our OAT program treats the warrior and the family as a comprehensive unit, believing that engaging together in physical activity not only provides valuable opportunities for creating lasting memories, but that these moments and shared experiences fortify against future struggles associated with the demanding needs of a military lifestyle.
Our programs forward sight is expanding our aperture and allow our lateral limits to reach out to all by bringing the OAT Pillars of Wellness, Sleep, Nutrition, and Resilience to reality. We strive to create a culture that will carry our military on to a healthier lifestyle path for our future generations of warfighters and their families. The Outdoor Adventure Team (OAT) is a peer-led recovery and resiliency program for active duty, wounded, ill & injured service members and their families.
Currently, our OAT home base is an indoor Wahoo Kickr Studio where bicycle resistance is controlled automatically to match each rider’s target power output for the ultimate personalized group workout. We also hold outdoor group rides when weather permits.
