In compliance with Chapter By-Laws, the 2019 Hampton Roads Chapter Annual Meeting will be held on Tuesday, 30 April in the Norfolk Room at the Sewells Point Golf Course.
Mark your calendars and plan to join fellow Naval Academy graduates and Chapter members at a luncheon; and get up to speed on the latest status of our Chapter.
Following some brief "State of the Chapter" reports, Commander Dave Richardson '95 will be our guest speaker.
Dave is a surface warrior, USNA permanent military professor, and co-founder of the Run To Honor Program.
He will share his passion for the roles he enjoys as a professor in the USNA Political Science Department and his ever-increasing commitment to Run To Honor. Dave's bio is at: https://www.usna.edu/PoliSci/facultybio/richardson.php.
Run To Honor was founded in 2007 by Dave and his classmate Jeff Webb. The mission of the organization is to honor all the names in Memorial Hall and provide support to the families they leave behind.
Now in its 12th year, Run To Honor has an active Board of Directors with representation from several USNA classes covering many decades, as well as USNA gold star family members. Two years ago, Run To Honor became one of the first shared interest groups (SIGs) in a formal partnership with the Naval Academy Alumni Association. The organization's newest initiative is the virtual Memorial Hall project, which now boasts over 5,000 unique online visitors each month. The following links refer: www.runtohonor.com/home and www.usnamemorialhall.org.
Please join us for an afternoon of camaraderie. Parking is free and base access is not required.
All alumni from USNA and other service academies are welcome!
The Business Development Meeting aims to actively support USNA and other service academy alumni-owned businesses and service providers in the Hampton Roads area.
We leverage the inherent trust and commonalities of our shared values and Service Academy background to develop awareness of alumni businesses and promote the opportunity to mutually support one another in our respective business lines through referrals, business-to-business arrangements, and strategic teaming opportunities.
We facilitate mutual support and awareness through the monthly Business Development Meeting, an online alumni business directory, and various networking events.
The monthly meeting agenda allows for the introduction and promotion of each member's business as well as the opportunity for mentoring, education and relationship-building.
Please register to let us know you'll be there.
Additionally, you can join our Business Development Group on Linkedin.
Be sure to bring business cards. Hope to see you there.

Back by popular demand is our Summer Barbecue Bash. We'll be at CAPT Slade Cutter Park in Norfolk, near Camp Allen and Naval Support Activity Hampton Roads
An important feature of this location is that base access is not required. There is plenty of parking as well. One limitation is that glass containers are not allowed.
We'll have music and games, including sand volleyball and horseshoes. Bring along a soccer ball or cornhole set if you'd like. There are also 2 small playgrounds for the very young ones.
The event kicks off at 12:00, rain or shine (we'll have a covered picnic pavilion). Again this year we'll have food provided by Mission BBQ! Be sure to register (because the amount of beer and food provided depends on RSVPs).
The POC for this event is Chris Bugg '96 at firstname.lastname@example.org, (757) 301-1414. Let us know if you'd like to volunteer with set up or clean up, or if you have any questions or suggestions about the event.
What we'll be providing:
What you might want to bring: something to grill, your favorite summer cocktail (sans glass), Frisbees, balls, games???
